making saxo work better for us

I am trying to create a separate photo credit tag so the style is different online and allows users to better search for specific photographers. Does anyone have any hints on this?

I tried creating a tag in admin, but i don't think I put it in the right place.

We currently have a separate style for Caption Credit, but i don't know how to apply an HTML tag to this?!?!?

Amanda, I don't know how to do this myself, but Greg from Saxotech support helped us do it. Have you tried posting this to IssueTrak?

Hey Amanda: There's a way to do this with SAXOTECH Online, but I'm not sure Ellington provides us the same flexibility. What would have to happen is: Code for the caption credit stylesheet would need to be passed to the XML file that is output by SAXO, and then something in Ellington would have to parse that and identify it as a credit (and tag it accordingly). Does that make sense?

Makes sense. But I was wondering if I needed to tag it in admin somehow? Because it seems like headlines/subheds/captions/etc are tagged. Do i need to do anything in admin to give that coding that is necessary?

Ronnie: Still not quite figuring it out. Seems like other styles aren't "tagged," so how does Ellington know to tag those items. Seems like there are Style Sheet Types that are the items that are "tagged." (Headlines, subheds, captions, text, byline). I'm not sure how to create a new Style Sheet Type.

Someone told me to do it this way, but it's not working (which would explain because that's probably how it works with Saxo Online): Basically, I located the credit styles in the stylesheets in SaxoAdmin. In the begin HTML I put "BEGIN_CREDIT", and in the end HTML I put "END_CREDIT". During the NITF import the credit is isolated using a regular expression on the caption field.

Any help would be appreciated. It would really help the readers to be able to search for photographers online.

The main elements of a Saxo-article are always tagged in the xml-output, when an article is exported from the Saxo-database.
Other elements, that you would like to have tagged, must first be marked in InCopy/CopyDesk by using a specific paragraph style or text style.
Export the code from InCopy/CopyDesk in a simple text-format so that you can see the code string in Notepad.
From this code you create a selection tag in Admin. Now the code is recognized by the Saxo-database and substituted with the tag.
Edit the selection tag so that it is replaced with the xml-code you prefer. Either by entering it in the "Start tag" field. Or by first creating a html tag and there after choosing that in the "Name" field of the tag. (This method is practical when the same code is used to replace several tags and style sheets.)
