Forums and article comments

We have been wrangling with Saxo's story forums for months to get them to work in a way that makes sense. Here's an example of what we have now.

We'd like to be able to have a comment box directly on the article page and have comments display in a single thread, but we've been unable to figure that out. We'd also like to be able to display the number of comments an article has next to its headline on section front pages or the front page.

Svend, it looks like you've had some success in Wenatchee. Are you or anyone else willing to share solutions?

We have a solution for the article comments as per WenWorld, and others, and I have asked if we can post a generic version of what you need to accomplish these on the developer site.

Hey Svend, or anybody else who may have a solution...

I am attempting to implement the code for Improved Article Comments, however I seem to be having a problem. I was wondering if anyone had an example gen_art file they could send me so I could see where and how you are doing this. I believe I am setting it up correctly, but no luck thus far. I'm trying to figure out the bug.
